About the event

Join Bastrop County Historical Society and Bastrop County African American Cultural Center and Freedom Colonies Museum for a fun and educational Lunch & Learn designed especially for families with children ages 8–12!

✨ Step back in time 160 years and discover what life was like for children in the Freedom Colonies of Bastrop County. Kids will explore history in a hands-on way through engaging activities like:

  • Learning about daily life in Freedom Colonies

  • Making traditional corn husk dolls

  • Creating their own family tree

  • Enjoying a museum tour
