About the event

On April 18th, commemorate the night that changed history by taking part in a community commemoration of Paul Revere’s historic ride. This coincides with a nationwide initiative called Two Lights for Tomorrow which is preparation for next year - the 250th anniversary of American independence.

In collaboration with Main Street Bastrop, each business in downtown Bastrop will be given two lanterns symbolizing the lanterns that Revere saw from the Old North Church steeple in Boston that spurred him on to warn his fellow countrymen that the Redcoats were coming and led to the first battle of the American Revolution!

This event will include -

  • Free paper lanterns at 7 at the museum entrance

  • Bastrop's own rider riding down Main Street starting at Spring

  • Reading of the poem, "Paul Revere's Ride"
